David Israel
...MY CONVERSION AT AGE TWENTY: On Saturday evening, November 13th, 1971, during a party that I had arranged for some college friends, I went upstairs to my room alone, and quietly made a deal with God concerning a dream of mine that I had since early childhood—which deal resulted in such a change that evening, that shortly thereafter, one day after Sociology class at the Community College of Baltimore, after all the other students had left the classroom, and as I was about to leave, Sociology teacher, Baltimore City Council woman Barbara Mikulski—(later, U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski)—went and stood in the doorway of the classroom with her fists on her hips to block my exit, and then she curiously asked, “David!, what has happened to you!?” (Because before the deal, I despised her and showed her little respect—even though she had always been kind and considerate towards me.) But after my deal with God, I lost the hatred, and showed her kindness; and responding to her question about what had happened, I simply told her that I received Jesus. She responded, “I knew something happened to you!”. TESTIMONY OF ISRAEL: I was born David Sherman Todd on January 20th, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland, and received God as my heavenly Father and Creator and Friend, through Jesus Christ His Son, on November 13th, 1971. I began reading and studying the Bible adventurously; and the Words of Jesus Christ was my highest priority. On October 29th, 1985, God began calling me, “Israel”. Then at noon on May 5th, 1987, I became a witness of the Resurrection and power of Jesus Christ, and of His mighty voice, wherein he also wept, and cried, “I have loved you!”. Afterwards I legally changed my name to David shepherd Israel.
